Professor David Slaughter’s brainchild Smart Farm is getting media attention — most recently from the Davis Enterprise. Read the feature article by Andy Fell on their website here.
Smart Farm is one of the UC Davis “Big Ideas”. Big Ideas are forward-thinking, interdisciplinary programs and projects that will build upon the strengths of UC Davis to positively impact the world for generations to come. UC Davis seeks to partner with passionate donors to help shape the future with these transformative projects.
Dr. Slaughter is quoted in the article, explaining “Smart Farm is about addressing the grand challenges in agriculture, using technology to increase production of food and renewable energy in the face of a changing climate. What will a farm look like in 50 or 100 years? We have to address population growth, climate change and labor issues, and that has brought a lot of interest in technology.”
