Ruihong Zhang Receives Achievement Award from the California Bioresources Alliance

image001Congratulations to Professor Ruihong Zhang for receiving an Achievement Award from the California Bioresources Alliance. The award recognizes Ruihong’s “outstanding research incorporating good science and practicality in seeking solutions to agricultural organic waste problems by transforming them into useful products”.

An example of the “practicality” of her work is the recent announcement of a groundbreaking ceremony for a new campus digester using technology developed by Ruihong. The new digester is being built at the former UCD landfill site and will process 20,000 tons per year of organic waste, producing electricity in the process.
